AirOS Distributed UTM

Federated, intelligent airspace management network for uncrewed aircraft with dynamic UTCZ management.

Overview

Building the next generation of safe, scalable drone airspace with AirOS Distributed UTM.

Instead of relying on centralised servers, the system activates lightweight Unmanned Traffic Control Zones (UTCZs) only where and when drone activity is detected. Each UTCZ runs a secure AirOS "zone server" that manages local airspace in real time — fusing live position data, detecting conflicts, and issuing advisories to pilots or onboard systems.

Features dual-role AirOS Nodes with LTE-M + GNSS capabilities, dynamic UTCZ management, networked conflict detection & resolution, and seamless integration with national U-space services including NATS OpenAir and future Common Information Services (CIS).

Features

  • Dual-role AirOS Nodes: Compact LTE-M + GNSS devices that act as either airborne beacons or ground receivers, broadcasting and detecting Remote ID over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
  • Dynamic UTCZ Management: On-demand zone servers that spin up automatically to handle live operations, scaling from a single drone to dense urban airspace
  • Networked Conflict Detection: Adjacent UTCZs share data and hand off aircraft seamlessly across boundaries, maintaining safety and continuity
  • Real-time Airspace Visualization: Interactive 3D airspace maps showing active UTCZs, aircraft positions, and conflict zones with live updates
  • Remote ID Integration: Full support for Remote ID standards with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi detection capabilities
  • NATS OpenAir Integration: Direct integration with UK CAA's Airspace Modernisation Strategy and NATS OpenAir services
  • Automated Conflict Resolution: AI-powered conflict detection and resolution with automated advisories to pilots and onboard systems
  • Regulatory Compliance: Built-in compliance with CAP 722 and upcoming U-space regulations for seamless regulatory integration
  • Scalable Architecture: Fully distributed and serverless architecture ensuring minimal infrastructure cost when idle while remaining instantly scalable
  • Live Data Exchange: Real-time data aggregation, monitoring dashboards, and regulatory reporting with encrypted end-to-end communications
